Angela Stockman shared a post a few days ago that really has me thinking. This year I'd like to continue to explore the intentional use of various digital and non-digital tools in order for our students to document their own learning. I am hoping using purposeful prompts and teaching strategies can and will go a long way to engage our students in the monitoring and regulation of their learning, while they are learning.

I couldn't agree more. Thanks for the explicit thoughts on 'making' that I also had swirling around in my head. You've nailed the missing piece for me in this making/maker movement. As I watch many people and sites move to incorporating making, it always appeared like replication (perhaps with one minor adjustment) and product oriented. I'm now in the midst of completely revamping my writers process.

I am appreciating your framework here, Melanie. It's tight enough to focus learners and prompt a meaningful process but simple enough to integrate rather naturally. These are concepts that kids understand and have a deep appreciation for, too. As someone who is all about documenting in order to discover the unexpected, I'm LOVING the photo bomb idea!
