When trying to collaborate, co-design, teach and assess lessons with a maker focus in the library learning commons, we have developed what we like to call a "4 Part Lesson Approach".As a teacher librarian, I often help facilitate part of the lesson process but do not necessarily get to see all the learning from "Minds On" to "Let's Connect and Reflect". Today, however, was one of those magical days that I did. (Thank you for today's learning Meaghan Hopkins!) LET'S READ LET'S MAKE Students had a variety of building tools to work with: large and small paper rolls, plastic piping , paper cones, and PVC corner pipes. Each student group was given an iPad to document their progress. Students were encouraged to curate their learning in a Pic Collage design where they uploaded pictures of their drain and labelled the angles used.(I absolutely love their group name!!!) Love the integration of varied, complex skills that don't tend to overlap in traditional spaces. That book is just begging makers to get tinkering, isn't it? Where did you find it? I always love keeping up with what you read, Melanie!

Thank you so much for this detailed post that embraces evidence of your pre-, during-, and post-documentation phases! You really were thoughtful about what was to be looked for and captured, as well as reflected on and shared regarding this learning experience's artifacts (and how they represented the learn focuses/goals).

I was excited to see my book in your Maker Mania article in The Teaching Librarian. I love the activity you designed. Would it alright for me to share this link on my author website?
